Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence with high praise for WR Dyami Brown

Jacksonville Jaguars’ QB Trevor Lawrence had high praise for WR Dyami Brown and his performance during offseason programs.

In a Jacksonville Jaguars’ wide receiver room that features Brian Thomas Jr. and Travis Hunter, free agent addition Dyami Brown has caught quarterback Trevor Lawrence’s attention with his play during OTAs and minicamp.

“Man, I’ve been super impressed with him,” Lawrence said after Thursday’s final practice. “His speed. Obviously, he is a threat down the field, which is important as a receiver who can stretch the field. But also, he’s a really, really smart football player.”

With his speed, Brown adds another vertical presence to the Jaguars’ offense. This not only creates big play potential, but his presence also frees up Thomas to attack other levels of the field while Brown stretches the field to help create spacing underneath and over the middle.

Liam Coen has also been impressed with Brown’s route-running ability with some of the “daggers and in-cuts” he’s been tasked with, not to mention that speed also makes him a threat near the line of scrimmage, where his YAC ability can be on display.

“He’s picked up the system really quickly,” said Lawrence. “He’s always in the right spot. I think that’s something about him, I don’t know if you guys watched plenty of practices, he’s gotten the ball a lot because it seems like he’s always in the right spot.”

The Jaguars signed Brown to a one-year, $10 million deal in free agency. His 308 receiving yards during the 2024 regular season were the most of his career, although he added another 229 yards to that total during Washington’s three playoff games.

As GM James Gladstone described when the team first signed Brown, they view him as an ascending player, especially with how he’s going to be utilized in Coen’s offense.

“He always has a feel for the zone, like where to sit, where to throttle, kind of those voids,” added Lawrence. “I just think he’s really smart, and I’m really excited, adding him to the offense, to the weapons that we already have. It’s exciting.”
