Graham Glasgow named Lions’ ‘make or break’ player by PFF

The good folks at Pro Football Focus have released their latest 2025 player spotlight. This one lists one player for each team that is in a “make-or-break” situation for 2025.

For the Detroit Lions, that player is veteran offensive lineman Graham Glasgow. Even though his position on the Lions interior offensive line isn’t yet clear, Glasgow is expected to start at either center or guard. With Frank Ragnow retiring and Kevin Zeitler in Tennessee, it leaves the 33-year-old (in July) in a key role.

Here’s what PFF said of Glasgow, who earned a league-worst pass blocking grade of just 42.8 in the final seven games of 2024 as Detroit’s left guard,

Kevin Zeitler’s departure in free agency and Frank Ragnow’s sudden retirement leave Graham Glasgow as the only veteran presence on Detroit’s interior offensive line. Whether he plays guard or center this season, Glasgow needs to perform better than he did last season. His 57.2 PFF overall grade was his lowest figure since his rookie season in 2016.

The theme of the selections is on players who can single-handedly make or break a team’s season. Glasgow is joined on the list by the likes of Caleb Williams, Tua Tagovailoa and Kyler Murray. That’s a reflection on how critical the Lions line is perceived to be in Jared Goff’s success at quarterback.

Our view

We don’t always concur with PFF’s analysis, but on this one, we are in lockstep. Glasgow is critically important for his veteran presence, but he also needs to be able to bury a bad (by his standards) season and thrive in front of Jared Goff.
