HILLSDALE — Congratulations to Pittsford senior graduate Teagan Williams. Williams, a state champion boys pole vaulter, was voted the 2025 Reader’s Choice Boys Track Athlete of the Year.

The senior was nominated along with three other honorable mention athletes for the award. Williams was also named the Daily News Choice Runner-up Boys Track Athlete of the Year honoree.

The senior accomplished his goal of winning a state championship after falling just short at last year’s D4 state finals, where he took second in pole vault.

This year, the career pole vaulter won a state championship to end his Pittsford boys track and field career. He won the title with a height of 13-feet, 3 inches. He won a total of eight events this season, including Area Best, region and conference titles. He set a new PR clearance height of 13-feet, 6 inches to win the Area Best Meet. This is second best in school history since 2009.

Williams led three relay teams to state finals qualification. This included the 4×100 team, which won three events, including a conference title. The team took third at regionals and second at the Area Best Meet and 28th at the state finals. The 4×200 team earned five wins, including a conference and regional title. The team took runner-up at the Area Best Meet. They finished 16th at the state finals with a time of 1:35.36.

The 4×400 team won two events and took runner-up at regionals and conference finals. The team took third at the Area Best Meet and 22nd at states with a time of 3:42.60.

Williams won the voting poll with 53-percent of the total vote. In addition to his postseason awards honors, he was voted the final HD Mechanical Heating, Cooling, Plumbing and Supply House Athlete of the Week of the spring sports season.

Runner-up: Zander Goodwin – Jonesville

Senior graduate Zander Goodwin collected multiple accolades this season, including being voted the runner-up Reader’s Choice Boys Track Athlete of the Year. Goodwin received more than 46-percent of the total vote. The senior was nominated after earning two all-state honors at this year’s Division 3 state finals held in Kent City.

Goodwin won four events in the 110-meter hurdles, including a conference championship. He finished runner-up in the Region 25 finals and at the Hillsdale Area Best Meet. He took sixth overall at the state finals with a time of 15.20 seconds. His PR was set (14.99) at the Cascades championship.

In the 300 hurdles, he won six events, including a conference, regional and Area Best championship. He took fourth overall at the state finals with a time of 40.07 seconds. This would make him all-state in both hurdles events.

He finished fifth or better at every other hurdle event this season. He also anchored the 4×200 relay team to a conference title and took runner-up at the conference title meet in long jump (20-1).

Honorable Mentions

  • Hayden Handy – Hillsdale: The senior made his way back to the Division 3 state finals after an injury ended his finals last season. The long jumper won five events this season, including a conference championship. He took runner-up honors at the Region 25 finals to qualify for the state finals. His state finals jump of 21-feet, 5 3/4 inches matched his personal record jump and earned him third place overall, earning all-state honors. He was just two inches shy of winning the state title. He took runner-up at the Lansing Catholic relays.
