Welcome to Factory Tour, where we take you inside the manufacturing facilities of our favorite brands to reveal how the products we buy are actually made.
On June 5, Prose, known for its AI-powered customized hair care, opened the doors to a new manufacturing facility in Commerce, CA — just outside of Downtown Los Angeles. It’s the New York-based company’s first “customization center,” as Prose calls it, on the west coast. Spanning 43,000 square feet, it’s designed to mirror the brand’s existing Brooklyn flagship.

Prose says it invested $9 million into this expansion to service its growing West Coast customer base after the company saw a 29% revenue increase to $165 million in 2024. In addition to increasing production capacity, it’s expected to reduce shipping times for customers in nearby regions, while also reducing carbon emissions by 50%.
“The Los Angeles area was the ideal choice for our new customization center due to its proximity to our West Coast customers,” said Anthony Perdigao, Prose COO, in a statement. “By strategically positioning our operations in Southern California, we are significantly reducing shipping times for nearly 50% of customers, enhancing our ability to deliver customized beauty solutions quickly and efficiently.”
