Joe Freshgoods x New Balance Abzorb 2000 ‘Everything Comes From Pink’

In FN’s recent interview documenting the making of the just-released New Balance Abzorb 2000, the sportswear brand’s general manager of lifestyle inline and speed, Paul Kaseumsouk, told us that collaborations would be coming later this year. It turns out the first reveal would happen only days later, as Joe Freshgoods has just teased a collaboration on the brand’s newest model.

In a Thursday Instagram post, Joe Freshgoods shared two teaser images of his New Balance Abzorb 2000 “Everything Comes From Pink” collaboration. Based on what can be seen, the sneaker is covered in multiple tones of soft pink with a co-branded olive green insole printed with the collaboration’s nickname.

In the post’s caption, Joe Freshgoods wrote that he’d be bringing pairs of the just-unveiled collaboration with him to Paris.

“Headed to Paris for a few weeks,” the designer wrote. Been spending a lot of time out there these past few years. This time, I came with gifts. Special project. Catch me in the streets — I might have something for you, not for sale but for party. EVERYTHING COMES FROM PINK. This like my passion project era. PARIS ONLY.”

The New Balance Abzorb 2000 was released at retail on June 12 for $170 and quickly sold out. Designed by Charlotte Lee, design manager of EMEA energy and speed at New Balance, the Abzorb 2000 is a marked shift from the brand’s traditional dad shoe styling. The futuristic design features a screenprinted upper and a gel-cushioned midsole which uses an abandoned technology, Abzorb SBS.

“I really drew references from what the future looked like in the early 2000s, and I think it’s still relevant now…I think the early 2000s design aesthetic and design movement is an interesting one because it feels very recent,” Lee told FN.

For now, it sounds like the Joe Freshgoods x New Balance Abzorb 2000 collaboration will only be available in Paris, however there doesn’t appear to be any special pop-up shop or similar event planned.
