Only Cate Blanchett can wear seashells on the red carpet and make it look high-fashion.
On Tuesday, the actor hit the step-and-repeat at The Serpentine Summer Party in London wearing custom Dilara Findikoglu, styled by Alister Mackie. Rather than lean into theme dressing (no snake print here), she channeled her inner (Roman) goddess.
Blanchett’s top comes from Dilara Findikoglu’s Fall 2025 collection, aptly titled “Venus From Chaos.” The seashell-embellished corset begins with a high collar wrapped in strands of pearls, leading to a bodice covered in intricately placed safety pins and spiked shells. Two large conch shells adorn the hips, for a DIY padded effect.

Waist-down, Blanchett swapped the runway look’s lace-up leather pants for a fitted mermaid skirt featuring raw seams. She completed the ensemble with matching purple pointed-toe pumps and a messy bun.
The sustainability-championing Australian is no novice to wearing unexpected and upcycled materials in the name of fashion. Last year, at a “Borderlands” press event, she sported a striking top made of 102 spoons, designed by LVMH 2024 Prize winner Hodakova. A month later, she repurposed that same top into a two-piece suit at the Toronto Film Festival premiere of “Disclaimer.”
In an age when red-carpet fashion is driven by pay-for-play ambassadorships ad contracts, it’s always refreshing to see A-listers take a chance on younger, indie talent.
