Charles Barkley is arguably one of the few 1990s NBA legends whose signature sneaker line can compete with Michael Jordan’s historic Air Jordan series. Although Barkley’s line doesn’t have the sheer number of models nor the on-court significance of Air Jordans, it’s similarly embraced by sneaker fans, especially those who hail from a certain era. One of the former Phoenix Suns star’s most popular models, the Nike Air Max 2 CB ’94, will soon return in an (almost) original colorway.

According to House of Heat, the Nike Air Max 2 CB ’94 Triple Black is scheduled to be rereleased next year for a retail price of $180. The stealthy colorway sees Barkley’s second signature sneaker draped in black with slight metallic silver and royal blue accents. The former fills in the circular mesh ventilation cut-outs throughout the upper, while the blue shade peeks through the visible heel Air unit and its outsole window.

While close to one of the original Air Max 2 CB ’94 styles launched in 1994, the Triple Black iteration features a small variation in that it does not include a Concord-colored Swoosh above the Air unit. Nike’s numerous reissues of the Triple Black colorway, which occurred in 2020 and again in 2023. A 2004 retro of the sneaker skipped the metallic silver ventilation holes, instead opting for a fully blacked-out look.

Beyond this upcoming Air Max 2 CB ’94 retro, Nike has other big plans for Barkley’s shoes in the coming months. Another one of his popular models, the “Godzilla” Air CB 34, is set for a holiday launch. And in 2026, a low-top variation of the Air Max 2 CB ’94 will receive a skateboard-ready upgrade courtesy of Nike SB.

The Nike Air Max 2 CB ’94 Triple Black is expected to be released during spring 2026. The style code for the Black/Dark Charcoal/Metallic Silver colorway is DC1411-001 and its expected retail price is $180.
