Rihanna understood the assignment when she stepped out for the “Smurfs” premiere in Brussels on Saturday.

The entrepreneur, who voices Smurfette in the new movie, hit the blue carpet alongside her partner, A$AP Rocky, in a custom blue-green dress from Chanel. The dress featured a silky teal chiffon top with sheer fabric that showcased her growing belly, paired with a matching skirt adorned with sequins, crystals and feathers. According to the fashion house, the outfit took 840 hours to make and was inspired by its spring 2003 haute couture collection.

On the star’s feet were a pair of light blue pointed-toe pumps. Made with patent leather material, the back of the shoes couldn’t be seen completely due to the length of her dress, but Rihanna has typically worn heels ranging between 4-to-5 inches in height, even while pregnant. Wearing 1990s-themed makeup, the “Work” singer styled her long black locks in a half-up-half-down hairstyle that framed her face elegantly.

Posing alongside her was rapper A$AP Rocky, who opted for a purple and white striped poplin dress shirt with a striped blue and black necktie. He paired his shirt with off-black cargo trousers, brown loafers and black sunglasses. The two share two children, RZA, 3, and Riot, 1, and revealed they were expecting their third child at the Met Gala in May.

In December 2024, the rapper was honored at the Footwear News Achievement Awards with the Collaboration of the Year award for his work with Puma. The ultimate cheerleader, Rihanna told FN on the red carpet, “I always support Rocky. It’s not new for me to be here today, but I’m just so excited for him to have this achievement and have everyone revere him in the light that he deserves.”

She continued, “He is such a creative and he creates all day, every day, in all different ways. He loves this. This is the thing that makes him so happy. The only thing that makes him happier than this is being a father. And to see him be honored for things that he truly loves — I’m excited to be here.”

“Smurfs” is set to be released on July 18 and focuses on evil wizards Razamel and Gargamel, who kidnap Papa Smurf. The Smurfs then embark on a mission to the real world to save him. With help from some new friends, they must discover what defines their destiny to save the universe.

To accompany the film, Rihanna released a new original song called  “Friend of Mine” in May.
