The history of the Cincinnati Bengals failing Joe Burrow in terms of offensive line play is once again going viral online.
By now, Bengals fans are well-versed in some of the numbers. Like, as Warren Sharp pointed out, while Burrow has been blitzed at the lowest rate of any quarterback of the last four years, he’s still been hit within 2.5 seconds of the snap at the No. 1 highest rate.

Any one of many stats go a long way toward showing why Bengals fans have been so frustrated with the team’s handling of the offensive line over the years. It dates back to the Andrew Whitworth days and beyond, but Cordy Glenn, Jackson Carman and plenty of other names are stress points.
It also explains why fans have been irritated this offseason when the team’s answer was drafting Dylan Fairchild and signing Lucas Patrick while otherwise just holding on to Cody Ford and Cordell Volson.

It’s one data point, but the many from now and over the years paint a story with an overwhelming theme: Burrow’s a top-five player at his position, rising above middling trench surroundings the team continues to ignore.
