Ashley Black has faced health challenges all her life. Born with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, she spent her early years in and out of doctor’s appointments, searching for relief through pharmaceuticals, cold baths, stretches, heating techniques and food charting. When she gave birth to her daughter more than 25 years ago, she then had a near-death experience after a flesh-eating infection entered her bone marrow, traveled to the cerebral fluid and triggered a stroke.

About 23 surgeries later and staring down lifelong pain management, Black set out on her own healing journey by diving into fascia research. Fascia, or the three-dimensional connective tissue holding the body together, supports every structure in the body and feeds its cells.

“Our entire focus has been on cells, instead of what supports the cells, and what supports the cells is the fascia,” Black told Dhani Mau on The Fashionista Network. (Watch it here!) “A lot of people think of it almost like the yin and yang.”

As a fasciologist, Black treated celebrities and professional athletes to regenerate their fascia, improve inflammation and boost collagen production by using her knuckles and then her own invention: the FasciaBlaster. She took her innovation public in 2014 and has since expanded her tool kit to include FasciaBlasters of various sizes and intensities.

More than a decade in, Black is scaling FasciaBlaster to be a household name with the help of her dedicated base. Whether consumers are looking to try FasciaBlaster for beauty or health reasons, Black encouraged viewers to give it a try. “When in doubt, blast it out,” Black said.

In the full interview, Black expanded on FasciaBlaster’s “anti-aging” effects, the peer-reviewed studies behind the tools’ efficacy and consulting her audience for what products they want released. She also gave a sneak peek at her first-ever mechanized tool, coming this fall.
