Ayesha Curry’s Sweet July Skin Debuts Lip Treatments

Ayesha Curry‘s Sweet July Skin is bringing flavor down to the lips. The beauty brand, established in 2023 as an extension of Curry’s existing lifestyle business, announced its plan to launch lip care with three nourishing treatments: Essential (Unscented), Lychee Jelly and Guava Jelly. The fruity flavor palette follows the brand’s food-centric product approach, where formulas are infused with the rich aromas of Caribbean superfoods.

“I know a lot of people are coming out with lip products, but ours are unique in the sense that they are very flavor-forward. The flavors have integrity; they’re not artificial, they’re natural,” Curry told WWD over a video call.

Ayesha Curry‘s beauty brand, Sweet July Skin, launches into lip care with three new treatments: Essential, Guava Jelly and Lychee Jelly.

Designed with a metal cooling tip to send the lips into a cold plunge, the sweet treatments evoke the sensation of summer in all its tropical glory. The formula, in development for two years, features flavors from varying islands and a unique technology called “maxi lip peptide.” Curry and her team created the “superhero peptide” to be thick, without the tackiness of other treatments on the market. She also designed the consistency to be versatile so customers can wear it on its own or with lip liner.

“ I didn’t want anything that was going to run. It’s great on its own, but it’s fantastic with lip liner. I hate when I line my lips, then I apply the gloss, and it starts to migrate onto my face,” Curry said.

Each treatment is infused with flavors from different islands in the Caribbean, as well as a superhero peptide technology.

Since launching Sweet July Skin about two years ago, the 36-year-old entrepreneur has transformed natural remedies into skin care that provides a sensory experience, physically and mentally. Curry’s original idea to launch a beauty line stemmed from her longstanding love of food and her history with problematic skin.

“Skin for me really is a journey. I’m not one of those girls who came in with this beautiful skin; that wasn’t the point. The point was, I have extremely problematic skin, and I always have. It’s very hereditary for me. So, it was really all about finding those products that were gonna keep that at bay,” Curry explained. “ I think what’s so cool with the skin industry and the beauty industry is we’re all well aware that nobody’s using just one brand. So, I love the ability to kind of mix and match and integrate products from our line into people’s current routines.”

The new lip treatments are currently Curry’s number one pick from Sweet July Skin.

Already, Sweet July Skin has debuted a variety of products, including Irie Power Face Oil, Soursop Vitamin C Serum, Pava Exfoliation Cleanser, Good Youth Retinol Sleep Serum, Pava Toner and Coffee Fix Peptide Eye Cream. The eye cream is made with  Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee extract, which helps to energize and de-puff.

Of course, if Curry had to recommend one product from Sweet July Skin, it would be the new lip treatments. “ If somebody is looking like, ‘What do I buy from them?’ I would say the lip treatment is a great entry point and introduction to the brand,” she said.

All three lip treatments will be available to purchase starting Saturday.
