Noni Madueke has decided to seek a new challenge in a bid for more regular football following a raft of attacking signings at Chelsea according to reports.

Madueke is set to join Arsenal in a package worth up to £52m, and will sign a five year contract with the Gunners.

The England international will become the second player to join Mikel Arteta’s side this summer after Kepa Arrizabalaga also made the switch to north London.

Noni Madueke hopes for more regular football at Arsenal

Madueke was a regular under Enzo Maresca last season as the Blues qualified for the Champions League and won the Conference League.

The 23-year-old made 32 appearances in the Premier League, scoring seven goals and registering four assists, whilst he also made his England debut and has seven caps to date.

Madueke has divided opinion at Chelsea, and whilst he clearly has ability and potential, his end product is still lacking at times.

Jason Cundy has admitted he’ll be disappointed to see Madueke leave, and The Guardian have reported the winger has decided to seek a new challenge in an attempt for more regular football, given the number of attacking signings Chelsea have made.

The report also adds the Blues believe Madueke hasn’t progressed enough since joining the club in January 2023.

Madueke has certainly dropped down the pecking order following the arrival of Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens, Joao Pedro and Estevao Willian, whilst Geovany Quenda will join next summer.

It’s unlikely Madueke will be part of the squad for the Club World Cup final, and it looks like his Chelsea career will end with 20 goals and nine assists in 92 appearances.

Nicolas Jackson attracting interest

With Madueke set to leave, there’s also a possibility Nicolas Jackson could follow him out the door, with rumours circulating over the striker’s future.

Following the arrival of Delap and Pedro, Jackson arguably finds himself third choice in the pecking order, and faces genuine competition for his place for the first time in his Chelsea career.

Jackson is said to be attracting interest from the Premier League and AC Milan, with the Blues thought to want in excess of £50m.
