3 Rookies worth watching during Vikings training camp in 2025

The rookie class for the Minnesota Vikings from the 2025 NFL Draft is not as plentiful as some other teams but Kwesi Adofo-Mensah is hoping it can be just as productive.

The team had only five picks, and they primarily focused on adding depth, except for their first-round pick, Donovan Jackson. The former Buckeye offensive lineman is expected to be a plug-and-play guard option for the team as they look to solidify an offensive front for their new starter and franchise cornerstone, J.J. McCarthy.

Outside of Jackson, who else is going to be worth watching during training camp their rookie season? We have three players from the class we are going to have our eyes on.

Tai Felton, Wide Receiver

In 2024, Jalen Nailor emerged as the Vikings’ WR3 and proved to be someone they could trust on critical third downs and in the redzone. Each season in the NFL, Nailor has shown growth and that he is on an uptick in his progression, so why draft Tai Felton? Felton brings a different skillset and body to the receiving room, and in the process, he gives the Vikings a dynamic big body on the outside. He could usurp Nailor as the WR3 with a strong training camp and preseason, so it makes his work in the coming weeks a must-watch.

Gavin Bartholomew, Tight End

When the team lost Johnny Mundt in free agency, people expected Nick Muse to step up, but instead, they used a late-round pick on Gavin Bartholomew. The former Pittsburgh Panther tight end showed a similar skillset to that of Mundt during his days in college and now the Vikings think he can do the same role for much less than the Jaguars are paying Mundt. His competition with Muse will fly under the radar for most everyone who follows the NFL but Vikings should follow it for how often the team uses their tight end depth.

Kobe King, Linebacker

Kobe King and Brian Asamoah II are likely to compete for roles this training camp within the Vikings’ defense. While both are likely to play meaningful reps on special teams, one has to step up and hold Blake Cashman and Ivan Pace Jr. in run defense in 2025. It was the achilles heel of the Vikings’ defense in 2024, and to win the division, they cannot have that happen again.
