Founders: Inés Capó and Äfet Burcu Salargil

Origin Story: Inés Capéo, from Puerto Rico, and Äfet Burcu Salargil, from Turkey, first crossed paths as undergraduate students at Syracuse University. Inés studied magazine journalism, and Äfet pursued a fashion design degree. For nearly two decades, their journeys have intertwined, shaped by professional ventures and shared experiences. 

Through travels, cultural exchange and enduring friendship, they have supported one another, cultivating a bond rooted in openness and mutual love of discovery. In 2019, after years of spontaneous visits to each other’s homelands and wandering through places like Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar, Inés and Afet decided to channel their friendship into something lasting. Together, they founded Ita, a high-end jewelry brand that creates wearable stories, with pieces that honor their different cultures.
