What one AFC executive said about Jacksonville Jaguars' WR Brian Thomas Jr.

One AFC executive recently shared their thoughts on Jacksonville Jaguars' wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler has been speaking with NFL executives, coaches, and scouts as he compiles his ranking of the top 10 players at each position group.

Thomas was just outside of the top 10 rankings at wide receiver, but was among the honorable mentions. According to one AFC executive that Fowler spoke with, it is only a matter of time before Thomas finds himself in the top 10.

"He'll be on the list by next year," the executive told Fowler. "He can do it all. He took the league by storm last year. He's got size and can win in all areas of the field. There's not one thing you can't do with him. He can play outside or in the slot and dominate."

While Thomas would total the third-most receiving yards in the NFL as a rookie, as Jaguars' offensive coordinator Grant Udinski mentioned earlier this offseason, there is more growth and potential out there for him.

This may not only come in targets, yards, and touchdowns, but more specifically, how Thomas is utilized within Liam Coen's offense.

Multiplicity is an important element of Coens' scheme, and from the receiver position, that means being able to line up across the formation and attack each level of the field.

So, for Thomas, we can anticipate that we will see him lining up in the slot more often, attacking all levels of the field with more regularity, while doing so in a variety of ways from a route running perspective.

As difficult as Thomas was to defend last season, this element can make covering him even more challenging because defenses won't get a beat on what's coming based on where players are lined up or who is on the field.

This then not only creates opportunities for Thomas to take advantage of, but for his teammates as well.

"I think, obviously the talent's always been there," Trevor Lawrence said of Thomas during offseason programs. "But I mean the confidence, obviously, off the year he had, and what he's done. Now he has a full year on his belt where he's one of the top receivers in the league. I think my confidence in him, seeing him do his thing for a year now, and just you get that one one-on-one, you feel really confident about our guy."
