A’ja Wilson Channels Iconic Shaq Shoe Cam Moment at WNBA All-Star 2025

A’ja Wilson took a little inspiration from Shaq for a spin on the court during the Three-Point Contest at WNBA All-Star Weekend on Friday night in Indianapolis.

The Las Vegas Aces star, who was a spectator during the festivities, turned her Nike A’One into a shoe cam, referencing Shaq’s iconic moment 19 years ago. Wilson’s boyfriend, NBA star Bam Adebayo, proudly cheered her on as she playfully showed off the red and black colorway.

In 2006, Shaquille O’Neal celebrated All-Star weekend by launching his latest Dunkman Game Shoe style with two tricked-out versions — in his signature size 23 of course. During pre-game interviews, he debuted a video-camera shoe complete with LCD monitor during the Slam Dunk contest. And he also rolled out a remote-control car version that same night.

Almost two decades later, Shaq continues to make big moves at Reebok as president of its basketball division. (Angel Reese, one of Wilson’s league rivals, launched her own signature Reebok shoe this month.)

Wilson’s star, meanwhile has been rising rapidly during her WNBA career, and she became the first Black woman with a signature basketball shoe since Adidas launched its last look for Candace Parker in 2011.

Wilson told FN in a cover story interview last year that she had been working on her kicks since 2023.

“I’m looking at the shoe, I’m changing it and we’re figuring out what direction we want to go with it. That takes time. At the same time, I’m not someone that’s going to be tweeting or having conversations or interviews discussing my every move,” Wilson said.
