Von Miller explains why he signed with the Commanders

Future Hall of Fame pass rusher Von Miller signed his contract with the Washington Commanders Monday.

He then sat down with Bryan Colbert Jr. to discuss why he signed with the Commanders for his 15th NFL season.

“Jayden Daniels is a really good quarterback,” opened Miller. He didn’t waste any time. Miller went straight to the heart of the matter. He plays defense, knows how important it is; yet, Miller knows quarterback is the most important position in the NFL. Miller expressed he had played with really good quarterbacks like Peyton Manning, Matthew Stafford, Josh Allen, and that he feels Daniels is going to be considered as good as those guys one day.

The second reason Miller provided for why he chose to sign with the Commanders? Head coach Dan Quinn is someone he’s never played for, yet he offered quickly that, “all the players that played for him, they rave about him,, they love him. When I was presented with the opportunity to come here, I couldn’t resist.”

Word has already spread among the players in the NFL that Dan Quinn has significantly improved the culture of this team in one season, following the disastrous 4-13 record of 2023 under Ron Rivera’s tenure in Washington. “I’ve heard about this team and the type of culture they have, and I want to add to that.”

The veteran Miller certainly knows why the Commanders are signing him, though he is 36 and will be playing only part-time. “I am here to get sacks. I am here to add to the pass rush. I’m here to do whatever it takes to win games, whatever it takes to win.”

What drives Miller to go into another training camp, another season?

“Just the opportunity to win another Super Bowl.” Interestingly enough, he then offered to Colbert that he wants to get into the top ten all-time quarterback sack leaders. With 129.5 sacks, Miller currently stands at 16th all-time. Indeed, this is good motivation for Miller to report in good condition and to take good care of himself during this upcoming season.

Here are the top 20 All-time sack leaders.
