Dating back to the late 1980s, the dad shoe trend originated with athletic sneakers like the New Balance 990, Nike Air Monarch and Reebok Club C. Designed primarily for stability and comfort, these styles were often associated with suburban dads until Balenciaga updated the trend for its runway collections in the 2010s. By the 2020s, dad shoes had become a dominant force in sneaker culture, with brands like New Balance, Nike and Adidas releasing new and retro models. The trend faded away at the end of 2023, making way for slimmer, retro runners like the Adidas Sambas.

Following the suburban dad theme, Davidson paired his $95 Nike sneakers with a translucent tracksuit by Sergio Tacchini featuring sports-inspired Italian slogans embroidered at the lower back. He added a luxe touch to his outfit wearing a Rolex 2016 Submariner Date timepiece, whose price starts at $30,000.
Davidson, an ambassador for Reformation, Axe and Manscaped, announced that he is expecting his first child, a baby boy, with his girlfriend, Elsie Hewitt, on July 16. In “The Home,” the actor plays a troubled young man working at a retirement home, uncovering sinister secrets. The film, directed by James DeMonaco, will be released in theaters on Friday.
