The Western-inspired footwear trend is being renewed for another season, thanks to Anne Hathaway.

While filming “The Devil Wears Prada 2” in New York City on Tuesday, the actress, who plays Andy Sachs in the film, was seen wearing a pair of Golden Goose‘s Sunset ankle boots. The style is inspired by cowboy boots from Texas, according to the brand.

Featuring a pointy design, the shoe, crafted in Italy from black leather, includes slanted Cuban heels measuring 3 inches and Golden Goose’s star-shaped logo is stitched onto the elasticated side panels. The boots, available online for $717.35, are one of the many silhouettes that have gained popularity over the past couple of years, with the rise of the cowboy and Western-inspired trend in fashion.

The Western style has been trending on runways and red carpets since 2023, with the support of celebrities like Harry Styles and Emily Ratajkowski, as well as TikTok’s endorsement. On social media platforms, the “cowboy core aesthetic” was among the many trends that inspired influencers over the past few years. When fashion enthusiasts thought the trend was about fade aways, Beyoncé debuted her “Cowboy Carter” album and tour, making the case for Western style even stronger. Now, Hathaway’s character’s wardrobe gives the trend a new life.

Golden Goose has drawn inspiration from the cowboy aesthetic since its inception. Francesca Rinaldo and Alessandro Gallo, founders of the brand, debuted their first Western-inspired style, the Golden Boots, after a trip to New Mexico and Texas in 2000. Bottega Veneta, Versace, Acne Studios, Isabel Marant, Ralph Lauren and Khaite are among the other brands that have reinterpreted the silhouette in recent years.

While on set, Hathaway paired her boots with a monochromatic gray look. On Monday, she also wore the Golden Goose boots with a Jean Paul Gaultier look on set. Could this be Andy Sachs’ new signature shoes?

Set to release in May, “The Devil Wears Prada 2” will also see the return of Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton and Stanley Tucci as Nigel. Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, Simone Ashley, Helen J. Shen and Conrad Ricamora are also joining the cast. The director of “The Devil Wears Prada 2” is Frankel, who also directed the first film.
