Commanders announce roster moves with Sam Cosmi, Terry McLaurin

As is customary when training camp begins, the Washington Commanders made some roster moves, and they just happened to be with two of the team’s top players.

Washington placed right guard Sam Cosmi on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform List, while wide receiver Terry McLaurin heads to the Reserve/Did Not Report List.

Cosmi is recovering from surgery on his ACL, an injury he suffered in the NFC Divisional Playoff win over the Detroit Lions in January. Head coach Dan Quinn offered an update on Cosmi Tuesday.

“He’s doing great,” Quinn said of Cosmi. “He’s had a really strong offseason, and we’re not going to miss one step of him along the way. The guys are doing their physicals today, and so I can give you a follow-up of where he is at tomorrow, but he’s really hitting all the markers that we had set, that we’d hope to see, and so that’s a really cool thing.”

The good news is Washington has the depth to withstand missing Cosmi for a period of time. The Commanders will not rush his recovery, which is going well.

McLaurin is in the middle of a contract dispute with the Commanders. Entering the final year of his contract, McLaurin is deservedly seeking a raise as other receivers around him are getting paid. While no one knows the numbers he’s seeking or what the team is offering, the two sides reportedly remain far apart.
