Nike, Inc. is wasting no time expanding offerings for Michael Jordan’s on-trend Air Jordan Mule sneaker loafer.

After first appearing in a dressy all-black and an upcoming cow print-patterned pony hair look, the Air Jordan Mule loafer is taking a sharp left towards a summery shade of Luminous Green. The zesty colorway leans more lemon yellow than lime green, with a glossy smooth leather loafer-style upper with an open mule backing. 

Air Jordan-branded silver hardware adorns the midfoot, and the brand name is also stamped on the footbed. Separating the pair from a standard loafer is its stacked foam sole, which features elevated rubber sidewalls for an added chunky effect. Despite its Air Jordan branding, Nike’s official product description does not mention any embedded Air cushioning.

While sneaker loafer hybrids are far from a new invention, the on-trend concept has found a new audience in recent years. New Balance is widely credited with helping kick off the latest movement with 2024’s 1906L loafer and since, nearly every athletic footwear brand has introduced their own spin on the theme. Aside from Jordan Brand, Nike has introduced the Air Max Phenomena, designed in partnership with the Serena Williams Design Crew. And soon, Comme des Garçons will bring back 2002’s Air Max Dolce sneaker loafer hybrid with a patent leather finish. 

The “snoafer” trend has shown surprising staying power, although there have been some doubts about how much more the category will grow. “I think we are approaching its peak in trend and growth but will continue to live on as a unique offering for consumers,” Tarek Hassan, founder and chief executive officer of Concepts, told Footwear News in March. 

Priced at $145, sizes of the Black/Metallic Silver Air Jordan Mule are already selling out on nike.com, so it’s likely that follow-up releases will experience similar demand for the foreseeable future. The upcoming Luminous Green/Metallic Silver colorway has a style code of HJ4292-302 and is expected to arrive at retailers in the coming months exclusively in women’s sizing.
