Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Jesse Derry from Crystal Palace, beating off competition from several clubs in Europe according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues have been busy this summer and have already made three attacking signings in Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens.

More new faces are expected to follow, and the Blues are working on completing deals for Dutch duo Xavi Simons and Jorrel Hato.

Whilst the Blues are working hard to improve the first team, they are always on the look out for the best young talents of the future.

So far this summer has been focused on the first team, but Romano has confirmed the Blues have agreed a deal with Crystal Palace for one of their most exciting talents.

He took to X.com and said:

“Chelsea agree deal to sign 18 year old winger Jesse Derry from Crystal Palace beating 8 European clubs for the England wingers.

“Medical will take place on Friday as the teenage sensation looked set for a move to Germany before Chelsea hijacked the move.”

The teenager is also an England under-19 international, and it will be interesting to see what Chelsea’s plan for him is given the competition for places in that area of the pitch.

The Blues seem to be accumulating a number of talented players of the same age in the same position, and the reality is they are all unlikely to make it at Stamford Bridge.

You would imagine Derry would be loaned out next season to gain first team experience, with a view to be potentially being part of the squad in the 2026/2027 campaign.
