MIAMI GARDENS — Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel met with reporters, with the injury to cornerback Kader Kohou the primary order of business.
Highlights:
Kader Kohou update: Cornerback Kader Kohou was injured during the most recent practice and left with trainers. He suffered a leg injury.
“We’re working on a day-to-day evaluation on him,” McDaniel said.
McDaniel said there’s no concern about the injury affecting Kohou in the regular season — at least for now. Evaluations continue.
“If there would be a concern, it would be completely made up,” McDaniel said. “There’s quite literally, I don’t have the information to lean any way.”
Happy for Fitzpatrick: Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick agreed to a two-year deal.
“I really understand the individual players,” McDaniel said. “I get really pumped anytime business happens.”
McDaniel said he’s even more pleased when a player shows him “the most important thing is our team is getting better in football and the focus is on that.”
Hilton left impression: McDaniel knows cornerback Mike Hilton from playing against him. McDaniel recalls thinking “I wish they wouldn’t be in nickel. I wish they had another linebacker on the field.”
Paul impresses McDaniel: McDaniel was asked about LT Patrick Paul. Patrick’s been doing great because he has to,” McDaniel said. “I think his growth has been monumental. I think you can feel a different energy based on increased confidence.”
Paul’s confidence is such that he said the other day that he feels no pressure protecting QB Tua Tagovailoa.
What’s up with Trader? Safety Dante Trader Jr. is expected to see action in joint practices with the Bears and Lions.
Adams update: CB BJ Adams is in concussion protocol and “doing well.”
Birthday cake for all? Today is defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver’s 45th birthday.
Brewer improving: Center Aaron Brewer will participate in some walk-through situations this week.
Waller working with Embree: TE Darren Waller has been working on the side with TE coach Jon Embree.
