Soon-to-be parents Pete Davidson and Elsie Hewitt showed off their contrasting footwear styles at “The Pickup” premiere in Los Angeles on Sunday. The couple steered clear of his and hers coordinated outfits for the movie premiere, with the model opting for suede pointed-toe pumps and a little black dress and the actor going casual in a Sergio Tacchini tracksuit and Under Armour sneakers.

Davidson, who stars in the Prime Video movie alongside Keke Palmer and Eddie Murphy, wore a pair of Under Armour UA Sola unisex sneakers, continuing his streak of dad shoe style, which began on July 22 during the premiere of “The Home” in New York City. The sneakers retail for $179 and feature a lightweight upper with 3D-printed overlays, reflective films and bold branding details. The sneakers featured white, cream, baby blue, silver and yellow details, contrasted by a rubber sole.

The shoes have a retro run-inspired TPU heel cage and cartilage pods for added support, cushioned EVA midsole delivers a lightweight ride with a futuristic design. He matched the sneakers with The Olmi track jacket and matching pants by Sergio Tacchini in a taupe gray and light brown colorway, which paired well with the shoes.

Dad sneakers have been on a major run since the late 2010s when high-fashion brands like Balenciaga and Gucci adopted the style. The shoes were usually worn by fathers or middle-aged men, but were then adopted by street style influencers, propelling the dad shoe into a hot fashion trend, with Nike, New Balance, Asics and more footwear companies leaning into the dad shoe craze.

While Davidson stuck to his usual casual attire, his girlfriend went for a more formal look for the event. For shoes, the mom-to-be kept it classic, with a pair of suede pointed toe pumps with a heel measuring around 100mm. She matched them with a formfitting, sleeveless long black dress with a slim crochet detail on the side of the chest.

This is the couple’s first outing since announcing that they are expecting their first child together on Instagram on July 16. As part of their announcement, the couple sported a pair of Air Jordan Retro 4 White Cement sneakers in one of the photos in their carousel. “The Pickup” premiere was the couple’s first public outing since sharing the news.
