Anne Hathaway Swaps High-heels for Slippers on Devil Wears Prada 2 Set

While audiences may not know exactly what “The Devil Wears Prada 2″ has in store for Andy Sachs, played by Anne Hathaway, it’s clear that she’ll yet again have designer outfits to accompany her endeavors. While on set, the actress has sported a range of luxury footwear, and one set embodies the slim-soled shoe trend — a pair of slippers from Stubbs & Wooton.

Filming on location in New York City on Wednesday, Hathaway stepped out in a white utilitarian Wildfang look set off by Stubbs & Wootton’s Crest Needlepoint Slipper, which showcases a mismatched look with different parts of a crest pattern cut from needlepoint fabric on each shoe. No two are the same — Hathaway’s set featured a cross on one shoe and a star on the other, standing out against her solid white coveralls.

The $595 shoes also feature a leather lining and leather sole, and they’re set upon a stacked wooden heel measuring just 0.75 inches in height. This fits in with the movement toward flat shoes which was reflected in the recently released Q2 Lyst Index report; five flat shoes were featured among the Hotted Products of the quarter.

In the original “The Devil Wears Prada” movie, Hathaway’s character Andy Sachs is a young journalist who struggles to live up to expectations as an assistant to the demanding editor in chief of a fashion magazine, played by Meryl Streep. Andy says the women who wear high heels at work are called “clackers” because of the noisiness of their shoes, but soon she undergoes a makeover and is embracing the stiletto lifestyle herself, famously donning “the Chanel boots” at the office.

Andy is still wearing some slender high heels in the sequel, but many of her shoe choices include block heels or kitten heels, making them a bit more practical than the typical pencil-thin stiletto. For example, she’s stepped out in avant-garde white Prada kitten heels (the brand’s Modellerie Spiked Leather Pumps) and ankle-height black Golden Goose cowboy boots (the label’s Sunset Boots).
