Vans has found a hit with a transformation of its Old Skool inspired by an iconic Chanel bag from 11 years ago. And while it sold out in its initial release, customers will have a few more chances to purchase.
The Vans Old Skool 36 “Souvenir” is modeled after the Chanel On the Pavement messenger bag released in 2014. An initial colorway for the sneaker quickly sold out on Thursday but will be released again later through select third-party retailers. Should you miss out on that, a second colorway is also on the way in September.

A spray-painted upper with a distressed tweed Jazz Stripe, an assortment of pins and leather overlays defines the two Old Skool colorways. The initial colorway features a green-ish brown and orange canvas base with brown leather, and the follow-up will appear in a more colorful plum with black leather.
Vans came right out and said what its source of inspiration was, which isn’t often the case when one brand pulls from another. The Karl Lagerfeld design came out of a buzzy show for spring 2015, championing feminism with protest motifs, and was highly limited, with a price tag of $3,800. A number of celebrities took to the graffiti messenger bag, and today it’s resold for many times its original price.

Vans’ first Old Skool 36 “Souvenir” will release again in its first colorway on Aug. 8 through select third-party retailers. The second colorway will then come in September through Vans’ website and select third-party retailers. Pricing for both is set at $125.
