Mariah Carey brought full-stage sparkle to Brighton Pride on Saturday night, grounding each of her three outfit changes in a different high-shine shoe. From sculptural platforms to metallic knee-highs, the lineup hit familiar notes — glamour, nostalgia, precision — all styled for impact.

She opened in black satin Prada platforms with an open toe and thick block heel, trimmed in silver crystal studs. A matching ankle strap ran over sheer glitter tights, peeking out beneath a classic black dress cut at the mid-calf and lined with rhinestones at the neckline. It was a clean look by Carey standards, but no less maximal in intent.

Her next look took a harder turn into disco-pop: silver knee-high boots by Giuseppe Zanotti with a lightly slouched shaft and pointed toe. They were paired with a zip-front multicolor dress covered in micro-crystals, keeping the shine uniform from shoulder to heel.

Later in the set, Carey swapped silver for gold — same boots, same fit — this time styled with a metallic mini dress and stacked diamond cuffs. The boots, also from Zanotti’s Hattie line, are known for their glove-like fit and reflective finish, a stage-ready silhouette that doesn’t need embellishment to read dramatic.

Other performers have leaned into the same strategy this summer. Jennifer Lopez wore rhinestone and pearl-covered thigh-highs in Spain during her “Up All Night” tour, while Paris Hilton closed out Pride Month last June in silver Stuart Weitzman stilettos. Carey’s pairs — cleaner in construction but no less theatrical — offered a more classic version of the trend.

Brighton Pride 2025 brought thousands to Preston Park for its annual festival, with Carey headlining the main stage on Saturday night.

The weekend lineup also includes Sugababes, set to close out Sunday’s events, following a Saturday program stacked with drag performers, dance acts and live pop sets.
