Tracee Ellis Ross continued her run of sculptural footwear on Friday at the Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival, attending the screening of her new project “Solo Traveling with Tracee Ellis Ross” at the Martha’s Vineyard Performing Arts Center in Massachusetts.
The actor and producer grounded her look in Givenchy’s Sculpted pumps, crafted from glossy black patent calfskin. The style is cut with a low décolleté and rounded toe, set on a curved block heel that angles inward for an architectural profile. The pared-back upper leaves the heel shape to do most of the visual work — a throughline in many of Ross’ recent shoe choices.

The Givenchy silhouette slots neatly into Ross’ broader footwear narrative. Late last month, she wore white Christian Louboutin So Kate pumps to “Watch What Happens Live,” a pointed-toe stiletto she’s revisited over the years despite calling it a “torture device.” In May, she hosted “Black Hair Reimagined” in unreleased Balmain boots built on a concave sculpted wedge, and in February, she attended Marc Jacobs’ spring 2025 show in black pumps with an upturned pointed toe. Even her archive includes Ferragamo’s feather-adorned pumps and Bottega Veneta’s chunky lug boots — all designs that prioritize form and silhouette as much as function.
At Martha’s Vineyard, she paired the pumps with a graphic two-piece ensemble. The top featured a bright yellow textured bustier with wide black straps, meeting a high-waisted black skirt embroidered with white cockatoos and gold floral stems. Oversized silver drop earrings framed her face, while a slicked-back braided style and red lip finished the look.
Givenchy’s Sculpted pump retails for $1,120 and is part of the brand’s current collection. The inward-curved heel has been used across various finishes, from matte leather to high-shine patent, offering a distinctive take on a classic pump. In Ross’ hands, the pair served as a modernist counterweight to the skirt’s embroidery, keeping the look grounded while preserving its clean, linear focus.
