Tyreek Hill trade rumors Multiple NFL teams reportedly monitoring future with Dolphins

Teams are reportedly monitoring the status of Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill as far as trades are concerned. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported Sunday that nothing is imminent, but Hill’s status certainly piqued some interests around the league.

Hill said at the end of the 2024 season that he was “out,” signaling the end of his time with the Dolphins. But since he’s returned to the team, training camp has been less than stellar, at least at the start.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa essentially said Hill has to work his way back into some’s good graces and Fowler reported Hill is dealing with an oblique injury. As of now, he’ll play Week 1 for Miami and it’ll be business as usual, but the trade market will be something to watch for regarding the veteran.

“So his status is uncertain, with an oblique injury right now, as for when he gets back in the lineup, is still up in the air,” Fowler said on SportsCenter. Right now, I have talked to a few teams that are at least monitoring his future a little bit. Could he be a potential trade target? Now, I know the Dolphins earlier this summer were telling teams, no, we’re not trading Tyreek Hill, but they just, you know, wonder, is he going to be available? It could be wishful thinking. Maybe they want him to be available, but he’s a player that when I bring up the teams and say, who’s sort of a trade target you’re watching? They bring up Tyreek Hill, so we’ll see. He’s a big option for Tua and that’d be a major move if they did move away from him.”

The 31-year-old finished the 2024 season with 81 receptions for 959 yards and six touchdowns. The yard total was Hill’s lowest since the 2019 season when he recorded 860 yards in 12 games with the Kansas City Chiefs. The TD catches were tied for the lowest of Hill’s career.

In March of 2022, the Chiefs traded the eight-time Pro Bowler to the Dolphins, and he signed a four-year, $120 million contract extension. In August of 2024, Hill and the Dolphins agreed to a restructured contract. No years were added to the deal, but Hill’s guaranteed money was bumped up to $106.5 million. He is currently signed through the 2026 season.

Just last summer, Hill talked about how much he loved playing in Miami and had no interest in being traded. He hasn’t gone anywhere as of now voluntarily or via trade, despite some relationships being on the rocks.

“I want to stay here in Miami because obviously this is where family is now. Everybody loves it here. Family loves it, wife loves it, kids love it,” Hill said, per ESPN. “So obviously I love it. I love playing for Coach [Mike McDaniel] and the team. My teammates are awesome so I wouldn’t want to leave. The fans are awesome, too. I just love how the fans hold us accountable every day on Twitter. So we’re getting better, I promise you. We’re not just sitting around drinking smoothies. We’re getting better.”
