The Detroit Tigers battled through a stark, unexpected rain delay and strong pitching from their AL Central foes the Chicago White Sox on Monday to win a 2-1 road contest at Rate Field.

The game included a ‘Tork Bomb’ from Tigers first baseman Spencer Torkelson, who now ranks 12th in MLB in home runs, sixth in the American League, with 26 on the season, one behind teammate Riley Greene.

Torkelson’s homer came in the ninth inning off of the left field foul pole, a play that had one fan excited enough to break out a set of markers to capture the momentous occasion in a drawing shared with Tigers fans on television.

“Have you ever drawn a Tork Bomb?” one fan wrote on X as they sent a picture of a drawing to the Tigers broadcast crew showing Torkelson’s blast in epic, and comical, fashion.

Monday’s win came not long after manager AJ Hinch sent a warning to AL Central does Cleveland. Tarik Skubal recently matched Dodgers star Clayton Kershaw with a string of amazing performances.

The Tigers know they can count on Torkelson for big hits in a timely and powerful fashion. Next up are two more games in Chi-Town before the Twins come calling on Thursday at Comerica Park in downtown Detroit as divisional matchups continue to heat up.
