Jenna Ortega’s Spiked Louboutin Boots Bring Gothic Bite to Sydney

Jenna Ortega is not dialing down the drama for her “Wednesday” press tour — she’s sharpening it. At Saturday’s Island Fan Event in Sydney, the actress doubled down on spiky surrealism with a pair of Christian Louboutin boots that looked straight out of Tim Burton’s sketchbook.

The style in question was Louboutin’s Kate Max Booty Spikes, a sold-out ankle boot that trades in menace as much as polish. Cut in multibrown hairy calf leather, the silhouette tapers into a chrome-capped point at the toe, then flares into a sculpted 100 mm heel in mirrored silver. Along the back seam, a row of curved metal spikes juts outward, giving the boot a clawed finish that exaggerates its shape with predatory edge.

The Sydney look adds another jagged note to Ortega’s ongoing footwear story. In New York earlier this month, she laced into Miista’s corset-style Shana boots, a wedge-heeled silhouette that nodded to ghillie lacing traditions. Days later in Seoul, she leaned darker in Simone Rocha, pairing mary janes with a collaborative bodysuit painted by Irish artist Genieve Figgis.

Ortega paired the Louboutins with a sleeveless dress cut in alternating black and orange stripes. Fishnet tights slipped in between hem and boot, underscoring the gothic register that Ortega and stylist Enrique Melendez have been threading through each stop of the tour.

For Ortega, the Louboutin spikes push that philosophy to its sharpest point. Every press-tour appearance has seen her reject neutral footwear in favor of shoes that match the gothic eccentricity of the series itself. The Sydney boots, bristling with chrome hardware, feel less like accessories than weapons — a sartorial extension of the character she’s there to promote.

“Wednesday” Season 2, Part 1 is streaming now on Netflix, with Part 2 premiering in September.
