The Sporty Jewelry Trend Endorsed by Everyone From Miuccia Prada to Justin Bieber

What do Miuccia Prada and Justin Bieber have in common? Probably not much. But they’re both undeniable tastemakers, and they have each recently put their stamp of approval on a very specific trend: paracord jewelry.

So naturally, it’s now absolutely everywhere.

Unlike the leather corded necklaces we’ve seen trending for years now, these sportier pieces rely on nylon fibers to create accessories that evoke shoelaces or the safety ropes used by rock climbers. (Other iterations incorporate silk woven into rope-like strands, which are slightly fancier and less outdoors-y, but still just as cute.) Prada incorporated the trend into her Spring 2024 Miu Miu collection, which also brought us low-waisted micro-mini skirts, polos and boat shoes. Miu Miu models wore their paracord adornments in the form of sandals, bag charms and anklets, and the brand began selling a cord bracelet soon after.

The Miu Miu runway also notably showed this trend on both men and women, solidifying it as a genderless jewelry option. Bieber, for example, has been wearing a paracord necklace with a chunky mushroom pendant all summer. (His piece is by Martha Calvo, and it’s only $130, if you’re wondering.)

Other brands who have jumped on the corded jewelry bandwagon include Gucci, Roxanne Assoulin, Jenny Bird, Don’t Let Disco, Alison Lou and Dorsey (whose Yves Necklace I recently fell in love with).

Some offset the athletic vibes of the paracord material with dainty diamonds for a high/low aesthetic, while others go big with oversized bubble-letter pendants, or beachy with shells (another prominent jewelry trend right now). Don’t Let Disco’s interesting version elevates the concept by fashioning cords out of upcycled vintage silk Pucci scarves.

Ahead, shop our curation of corded necklaces, bracelets and anklets — featuring something for every taste (and budget).
