Kevin Durant’s Nike signature sneaker line is an anomaly.
While peers like LeBron James have largely settled into sticking with what works best on their respective models, Durant’s shoes are only getting more interesting. It started on 2021’s Nike KD 14, which took a page from the Air Presto, and was dialed up even more on the most recent iteration, the KD 18. The latter model has direct cues from the late-1990s Terra Humara trail runner and is soon set to release in styles inspired by the classic Air Bakin and Air Foamposite One sneakers. Next, his namesake line enters its 19th year, it will receive its most radical design yet.
An early image of the upcoming Nike KD 19 was shared Friday by Sneaker Files. While it’s too early to ascertain the exact backstory behind the model, the pair appears to adopt the look of Nike’s 2000s-era Zoom Hyperflight model. The shoe features a low-cut, molded synthetic upper with a raised zig-zag extended across the lateral side. An outward midsole is kept minimal, likely indicating the shoe features a drop-in or internal cushioning setup.
