Chargers strangely move Trey Pipkins in trade proposal involving AFC South team

The Los Angeles Chargers have been connected to predictions involving either the trade or release of offensive tackle Trey Pipkins III for some time now, mostly from the fanbase. But with the season-ending injury suffered by Rashawn Slater, he became much more important to this year's team.
It's arguably the toughest loss any team has faced thus far in this young season and Pipkins, a former third-round pick, was the next man up. Slated to be this year's swing tackle, Pipkins has moved into the starting right tackle spot with Joe Alt going over to the left side.
But Alex Kay of Bleacher Report still believes the team could trade him, proposing that the Houston Texans make a move to acquire him before the season starts, in exchange for a seventh-round pick.
"The Texans are running out of time to maximize their Super Bowl window during C.J. Stroud's rookie contract. While there aren't many moves they can make at this juncture, getting more depth in place along the offensive trenches will be critical for the journey ahead.
With backups such as Blake Fisher and Zach Thomas failing to stand out during training camp and the start of the preseason, Houston needs to bring in a piece such as Trey Pipkins III.
Pipkins has been a fixture for the Chargers offensive line since emerging as a full-time starter in 2022, but he's coming off a disappointing season and could even be a potential cut candidate due to the cap savings his release would provide.
Rather than let him go for nothing, taking a seventh-round pick from Houston would be in L.A.'s best interests", wrote Kay.
Despite the salary cap savings, the Chargers would be negligent to cut Pipkins following the loss of Slater, which already creates a big hole on the offensive line. Pipkins is a capable player to fill in at that spot and has 56 career starts under his belt.
Getting only a seventh-round pick in exchange would not be anywhere close to worth it for the Chargers, considering the lack of depth and what they would have to work with, having Slater out for the season and Pipkins no longer on the roster.
I am numb. I can't believe we have to watch Trey Pipkins as a starting Tackle for the Chargers in 2025

Chargers fans have long been disappointed in the overall performance of Pipkins, but he is going to be a key piece of this year's team and truthfully, should be a player the team is not even considering the idea of trading.
