FOX has revealed its broadcast assignment for Friday’s anticipated season-opening game between the Auburn Tigers and the Baylor Bears.
According to David Smoak of 365Sports, the crew of Jason Benetti and Robert Griffin III will call the game from the booth at McLane Stadium in Waco, Texas, with Alexa Landestoy working the sidelines. For Griffin, it will be his debut with FOX after being let go from ESPN last year, with his first game at FOX being at his alma mater, where he won the Heisman Trophy in 2011.
Auburn vs. Baylor is one of 11 games scheduled for Friday, Aug. 29, and one of two games that feature two Power Four squads, joining Georgia Tech at Colorado, which is scheduled to kick off at the same time. Early lines suggest that Auburn will sneak out of Waco with a win as 2.5-point favorites. However, ESPN’s Football Power Index favors Baylor with a 51.8% chance to win the game.
Both teams will look to improve upon last year’s records. Auburn ended the 2024 slate with a 5-7 record, missing out on a bowl game for the second time in three seasons. As for Baylor, the Bears went 8-5 with a bowl loss to SEC power LSU. The key matchup in Friday’s game will be between the quarterbacks Jackson Arnold and Sawyer Robertson, two players that will be instrumental to their team’s success this season.
The Tigers and Bears will face off on Friday at 7 p.m. CT on FOX.
