Undefeated’s Air Jordan 4 is considered by many as the biggest sneaker of the year, naturally meaning it sold out when the Los Angeles-based boutique released it earlier this month. Resale prices have dropped to somewhat reasonable levels, but one last chance at purchasing for retail is slated for Thursday.
The Undefeated x Air Jordan 4 will get a final release Thursday through the Snkrs app. No listing appears on the app yet, and Nike has yet to make any other sort of announcement, but sneaker leakers confirm the imminent release of the hyped sneaker.
The MA-1 bomber jacket-inspired kicks originally released in 2005 as the first collaboration on any Air Jordan. It was as rare as it was unprecedented at the time, as just 72 pairs were made available to purchase by those who also bought a matching T-shirt. Considered by many as one of the scene’s ultimate grail, the original olive green Air Jordan 4 has fetched as high as $44,000 through a Sotheby’s auction.
As Undefeated brought back its seminal Air Jordan 4 for the 20th anniversary, it did so with one change that some may consider minor and others major. Rather than featuring the Jumpman logo as it did in 2005, the new edition features “Nike Air” branding just as the model originally did in 1989 and more recent Air Jordan 4 retros have taken to.
In the lead-up to the August release, many expected both a Jumpman and Nike Air edition to be made available. A remake with the former mark, however, was only given out to friends and family of the brands.
The Undefeated Air Jordan 4 will be available some time Thursday through the Snkrs app. Pricing is set at $225.
