In recent years, Michael Jordan’s sixth signature sneaker has been one of the lesser-seen Air Jordans at retail, but that could soon change with the model’s 35th anniversary approaching in 2026. While we further await confirmation of upcoming releases, details of a new Air Jordan 6 Retro style have surfaced ahead of its expected summer launch date.
According to Sneaker Files and @zsneakerheadz, the Air Jordan 6 Retro will receive a new “Cap & Gown” colorway next year. Featuring a full colorway of Black/Multi-Color/Multi-Color, an in-hand look at the sneaker has yet to surface, but the mockup render is said to be an accurate depiction of what fans can expect come summer ’26.
Staying true to the theme used on previous Air Jordan 11 and Air Jordan 13 Cap and Gown colorways, the upcoming style is expected to feature a fully black upper with silver accents along the midsole and heel tab and reflective piping on the shoe’s signature paneling. The nearly all-black look extends to the rubber outsole, which is traditionally clear on the Air Jordan 6.
Another Air Jordan 6 fans can expect to be released in ’26 include a “Reverse Infrared” version of the “Black Infrared” Air Jordan 6 based on an original salesman sample from 1991. Along with that pair, the classic model is expected to receive a new Metallic Silver collaboration with Paris Saint-Germain and a luxe, $350 Bin 23 release.

Designed by Tinker Hatfield and worn by Jordan during his first NBA championship win in ’91, the Air Jordan 6 took inspiration from sports cars with its spoiler-like heel tab and sleek material finishes.
As for the Cap and Gown spin on the sneaker, it’s set for a summer ’26 launch with a to-be-determined retail price. The colorway’s style code is IR2266-010 and it’s expected to have availability from Nike’s Snkrs app and select Jordan Brand retailers.
