2026 CB Elisha Asare commits: “I knew West Point was home”

June 22nd 2026 cornerback prospect Elish Asare out of St. Christopher’s School in Richmond (VA) officially made his college decision.

“I called Coach (Jeff) Monken first after having my second visit on campus and getting back home,” said the 6-foot-0, 170 pounder.

“Coach was ecstatic and then after I called both Coach (Daryl) Dixon and my recruiting coach Coach (Danny) Verpaele.  It was a long time coming, I knew West Point was home and had prayed about it and God confirmed.”

With offers from Navy and VMI, what lead Asare to say yes to the Army Black Knights of West Point?

“What made me say yes is the brotherhood I got to witness whenever I was on campus,” declared the speedy corner.  “Also building connections to players … even when I was back home meant a lot to me.”

“Army won my family over, and when you win family it’s hard to look elsewhere.”

Asare also indicated that he has kept his eyes on current of players that have committed to the 2026 recruiting class and he is impressed with.

“I have been (watching) … the class looks real good and can’t wait to get with the guys.”

Direct or Prep?

“My GPA is a 3.3 and i’m not yet sure if i’m going direct … I am still waiting on SAT scores,” he explained.

Last season, Asare was an All-Prep and All-State CB and this season, he and his teammates are off to a good start.

“We just had Week No. 1, beating the No. 2 team in our area, Huguenot High School,” said Asare, who completely focused on this 2025 football campaign, but also looking ahead to when wears the Black & Gold of Army.

“I’m focused on having the best year for me and my team, and continuing to get bigger faster stronger to prepare for the next level … as well as staying on top of my academics.”

GBK Analysis:

Asare is a skilled two-way player with ball skills.  He is also All-State in track where he runs the 55, 300, 4×200 and 4×400 relay.

In their record breaking 4×200, it was at the VISAA State Championship with a time of 1:30.77 and Elisha ran a 22.6 200m split.
