George Pickens is approaching his first year in Dallas with a team-first mindset, saying he is ready to show “a different version” of himself while building chemistry with Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb
George Pickens is not looking at 2025 as a season to prove anyone wrong. Instead, the wide receiver is framing his first year with the Dallas Cowboys as a chance to build on what he has always done while fitting into a new system.
When asked about personal motivation, Pickens explained, “[I’m] not really [out] to prove anything. Kind of just do what I always been doing, just in a different system. So, I’m ready to kind of just show you guys a different version.”
That version will share the main stage with CeeDee Lamb and quarterback Dak Prescott. Pickens described the offseason as filled with reps, routes, and growing chemistry. “We throw routes a lot so I feel like we can come off hot,” he said when asked about whether the offense might need time to find rhythm after sitting out preseason games.
Building chemistry in Dallas
His connection with Lamb has also been a source of excitement. Pickens admitted the anticipation has been building as he looks forward to playing next to a receiver he has long respected. “I’ve always watched him, always played against him. So, yeah, I’m ready to play with him.”
Pickens brushed aside questions about his contract status, saying he is “more of a team guy” and more focused on how the offense will come together. He highlighted the variety of weapons now surrounding him in Dallas and the opportunities created by the scheme. “Different routes…different route concepts to get me open to get [CeeDee Lamb] open, to get a lot of guys open,” he said.
For Pickens, the year ahead is not about proving outsiders wrong but about showing exactly what he can do in a system designed to bring out his versatility.
