Ty Haney is no stranger to entrepreneurship: In 2013, fresh out of Parsons and 23 years old, she founded activewear brand Outdoor Voices, which quickly became a category-defining phenomenon, raising millions in venture capital and opening stores across the country.
After publicly exiting Outdoor Voices in 2020, she didn’t slow down: She launched community rewards platform Try Your Best (TYB), where consumer engagement earns exclusive discounts and collectibles. Next, Haney founded Joggy, a plant-based “energetics” brand. In August of this year, she made a triumphant return to Outdoor Voices, leading a revamp of the cult-favorite label after its acquisition by Consortium Brand Partners in 2024.
“As I got more comfortable with [Consortium’s] approach and us as partners, or the potential of partners, it was something that I got very excited to step back into,” Haney told Dhani on The Fashionista Network. (Watch it here!)
Feeling some initial hesitation to rejoin the Outdoor Voices team, Haney took six months to decide. Upon her return, she honed in on the brand’s product. “For me, it was not ‘fixing’ anything,” she said. “It was really creating space to turn back on this original vision and what we had seen so much success with.”

Marking Haney’s return and an overall relaunch, the activewear brand’s newest collection leaned into its recreational roots with a new, 2025 twist. The brand unveiled colorful cotton cashmere cardigans, pleated tennis skirts, capri leggings and other fashion-leaning staples for workouts and beyond. Looking ahead, Outdoor Voices is planning to start rolling out “activity-specific capsules” in the upcoming weeks. The label will expand into outerwear and accessories in October.
Meanwhile, Haney has scaled TYB significantly, signing on more than 200 top consumer brands including Rare Beauty, Glossier, Saie Beauty, Set Active, Urban Outfitters and more.
In the full interview, Haney discussed why TYB is so unique and valuable for brands, the lessons she learned from Outdoor Voices (round one) and what qualities she looks for in a new hire. She also opened up about how she feels being the public face of Outdoor Voices once again — with all the things that can invite, positive or negative.
“I expect that there’s going to be waves of challenges and waves of things that people don’t like, and ultimately, I don’t really have the ability to control that,” Haney said. “OV is so me. It’s so my nature. It’s so in my DNA. I just know I’m meant to be building here, and I enjoy it.”
