Could Blues Forward Realistically See 2025 Playoff Debut Thursday

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. — The St. Louis Blues implemented 11 forwards and seven defensemen for their Game 2 of the Western Conference First Round series against the Winnipeg Jets, so the lineup already saw a chance from Game 1.

Will there be another one when the Blues, down 2-0 in the series against the Winnipeg Jets, play host to Game 3?

It appears it's a safe assumption that Alexandre Texier will play a game for the first time in nearly a month on Thursday (8:30 p.m.; FDSNMW, ESPN2, SN, CBC, TVAS, ESPN 101.1-FM).

Texier, who last played March 27 against the Nashville Predators, played in only 31 games this season for the Blues (11 points; six goals, five assists) due to injury, illness and a large dose of healthy scratches.

But the forward was skating Wednesday at practice with Oskar Sundqvist and Zack Bolduc on the third line and is someone who does have the skill set to make a difference when on top of his game.

"Yes, because he has incredible self-belief and confidence," Blues coach Jim Montgomery said after practice. "He is very, very high end with the puck, and he does things in practice that not a lot of players I've seen that I've had the fortune of coaching be able to do what he does. So yes."

The Blues will skate on Thursday at 11 a.m. so more clarity will be known then whether Texier makes his Blues playoff debut, but all indications on Wednesday signaled that he's trending in that direction. And for a team that has scored four goals in two games but just one at 5-on-5, more potential firepower couldn't hurt.
