Amid reports that Penn State is on the verge of switching its apparel partnership from NIKE to adidas, Nittany Lions senior quarterback Drew Allar is signing a name, image, and likeness deal with the former. NIKE announced the news on Instagram on Thursday. Terms of the deal are not available.
“The Pride of Pennsylvania,” NIKE wrote on social media. “Welcome to the family @drew.allar.”
The news comes just two days after On3’s Brett McMurphy and others reported that Penn State University’s four-decade-plus partnership with NIKE is winding to a close and that it is being replaced by adidas, pending approval from the school’s Board of Trustees.
This is the second major NIL deal for Allar in recent weeks. He also recently announced a partnership with American Eagle. It includes a photo shoot with the likes of Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce, among others.
“It was a great experience,” Allar said recently, per The York Daily Record. “I had a great time meeting all the people involved in that and really getting to see the behind-the-scenes sort of thing. It’s really cool to be a part of a project like that. I’m really excited for all the things that it will bring, for sure, but it was definitely a blessing to be a part of that.”

Allar, Penn State, set sights on FIU
On the field, Allar and Penn State are 1-0 ahead of Saturday’s matchup with FIU. Kickoff is at Noon ET. Big Ten Network is televising the game. Last week, the senior completed 22 of 26 passes for 217 yards and a touchdown against Nevada.
“I thought Drew played how you would expect him to play,” Lions coach James Franklin said on Monday. “He was consistent. Made some big-time throws. He made a couple out-breaking throws that very few college players and a handful of NFL quarterbacks can make. Wide field outs that he threw on time into some contested coverage as well.
“But I thought he played well. Made plays with his feet. Extended plays. He had that one run like I mentioned after the game that I would’ve liked him to get down a little bit faster. Took too many shots on that. Overall, I was pleased. Played very, very clean. Missed the first touchdown throw to [Kyron] Hudson, which I would’ve loved to have been able to hit that throw. Besides that, I thought played very clean.”
