Alycia Parks' U.S. Open Game Changers Include Batiste Dry Shampoo and Chanel Sneakers

Before New York Fashion Week takes the city by storm every September, there’s another major event that brings the coolest, most sophisticated groups of stylish people together for a sort of pre-game to the fashion-filled schedule ahead. I’m of course talking about the U.S. Open.

Each year, people from all over the five boroughs and across the globe gather — not just to watch nailbiting matches while showing off their fanciful takes on proper spectator apparel, but also to see what the athletes themselves are wearing on the court. Ever since Serena and Venus Williams first entered the championship in the late 1990s, fashion has, in many ways, become a player of its own. The sisters have fiercely competed in everything from Nike to Off-White and, most recently, Luar, setting a sartorial standard for the next generation of tennis.

Alycia Parks, a record-breaking pro who played in this year’s tournament, has taken notes. Throughout her run, she wore plenty of decorative Wilson tennis dresses featuring vivid colors that stand out against the dark arena backdrops. Matching scrunchies helped “tie my match outfits together,” she tells Fashionista. Whether through pleated details, mesh panels or impressive stacks of earrings staying locked in during gametime, Parks never broke a sweat when it came to her style.

Ahead, the athlete shares everything she shopped for to prepare for her matches, including the dry shampoo that kept her hairstyle fresh from Montreal to Mexico, plus the sporty Chanel accessories on her wishlist for the seasons ahead.

What’s a luxury beauty item you’re into?

Definitely the Dyson Airwrap. It’s a favorite of mine, especially on wash days, to keep my blowouts looking fresh.

What’s a drugstore/mass market beauty item you’re loving?

The Batiste Dark Hair Dry Shampoo. The dark shade is perfect for my hair type since it blends right in and doesn’t leave any white residue — that’s a major plus for me. [Editors’ note: Parks is an ambassador for Batiste.]

What’s a beauty staple you love to wear during games?

The Batiste Sweat Activated Dry Shampoo. It always has me feeling fresh and smelling good both on and off the court.

What’s your favorite accessory to wear on the court?

The Wilson scrunchies, because they tie my match outfits together and make me feel both cute and confident. [Editor’s note: Parks is sponsored by Wilson.]

What’s an off-the-court accessory you’re eyeing?

The Tory Burch Miller Pavé Knotted Sandals in Cocoa. They look perfect for when I’m casually walking around or going to dinner.

Any other luxury fashion items you’re lusting after?

I’ve been dying to get my hands on the Chanel 11.12 Classic Handbag — it’s at the top of my list to be the next addition to my purse collection.

Are there any other off-court shoes you want to buy right now?

The Chanel Stretch CC White Silver Sneakers. I’ve been wanting them for a while, and I think it’s finally time to purchase them — I just love the metallic finish.

What pair of on-court shoes are you loving?

My go-to shoes on the court are Wilson. I switch up the style and color depending on my match outfit, but they’re always my favorite to wear.

Do you have any game-time wardrobe staples?

I love to wear my Kith for Wilson Dobby Track Jacket going into my matches.

What’s an off-the-court wardrobe staple you love?

My Dolce & Gabbana sweatshirt. It’s super soft and comfortable to lounge in. Plus, it’s black, so it goes with everything.

What’s an affordable fashion item on your shopping list?

I would definitely say the Wilson Peyton Knit Tee. It’s the perfect black T-shirt and would match so well with all of my outfits.
