  • Phoenix Mercury players revealed the most famous contacts in their phones in a social media video.
  • Several players named current and former NBA stars, including Dirk Nowitzki.

The Phoenix Mercury have been one of the top teams in the WNBA throughout the 2025 season.

With several All-Star players — Kahleah Copper, Satou Sabally, Alyssa Thomas and DeWanna Bonner — there’s likely going to be some famous friends.

And the Mercury’s social media account got some of the players to share who’s in their contacts, including some surprising names — and some not so surprising.

Several said NBA players past and present. Monique Akoa Makani said Golden State Warriors forward Jimmy Butler.

Sabally, who was joined by her sister and New York Liberty forward, Nyara, didn’t go with her family. She instead mentioned fellow German basketball player and 21-year NBA legend Dirk Nowitzki. Throughout Sabally’s five seasons in Dallas, Nowitzki served as a mentor and continues to support her.

Center Kalani Brown took some time to think about her answer but mentioned her father, former 15-year NBA center P.J. Brown.

Natasha Mack chose former NFL wide receiver Dez Bryant, who spent most of his time with the Dallas Cowboys. The two have a nine-year age difference, but are both natives of Lufkin, Texas, and went to the same high school.

Several players, including Bonner and Kiana Williams, said Mercury legend Diana Taurasi. Copper and Brown both said WNBA legend Candace Parker.

Others, such as Sami Whitcomb, Kathryn Westbeld, Kit Laksa and Lexi Held, chose their teammates.
