Ralph Lauren’s Suite Was the Place to Be at the US Open

This past Saturday afternoon of finals weekend, Stanley Tucci was spotted having a quick bite with Patricia Clarkson—yes, the delightfully oversharing parents from Easy A—inside Ralph Lauren’s newly redesigned suite at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

They stood at the hammered-brass horseshoe bar, chatting at ease before the women’s championship match between Aryna Sabalenka and Amanda Anisimova.

“I live in London now,” Tucci said, dressed in a peaked-lapel, pinstriped Ralph Lauren jacket. “It’s my first time back at the Open in, like, 12 years… there’s a roof now!” He was referring to the retractable roof above Arthur Ashe Stadium—the tournament’s flagship site—installed about nine years ago. In New York to film The Devil Wears Prada 2, Tucci was good-humored as ever: “I play tennis, but here’s the sad thing: I don’t have a best shot.”

Tucci, Clarkson, and many more boldfaced names were among the high-profile guests Ralph Lauren welcomed to its box over the weekend. This year marks the brand’s 20th anniversary as the Open’s official outfitter. Ralph Lauren dresses hundreds of on-court officials and ball crew members, and special merchandise is sold on-property at dedicated retail outposts—I even spied Jon Hamm browsing one on Saturday night. To toast the milestone, the viewing suite was transformed into less of a beachy lounge and more of a social, stand-up taproom. The Honey Deuces still flowed, and so did on-demand orders of Coqodaq’s caviar chicken nuggets, an Open sensation.

From the men’s semifinals on Friday to Sunday’s showdown between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, guests included Stranger Things’ Noah Schnapp; The White Lotus’ Leslie Bibb; Sam Rockwell and Walton Goggins; The Bear’s Ebon Moss-Bachrach; Bridgerton’s Simone Ashley; The Studio’s Chase Sui Wonders; and Monsters: The Erik and Lyle Menendez Story’s Cooper Koch. Usher and Spike Lee hugged and talked shop; Jessica Alba arrived with her father, Mark, who celebrated his 65th birthday on Sunday.

At an Open where the celebrity quotient felt higher—and more frenzied—than ever, Ralph Lauren’s roster still stood out. Everyone dressed to the nines—largely in navy and white—and beyond the clothes, the mood was relaxed and familial. Rockwell introduced Clarkson warmly, à la “Oh you know Patty, right?” Schnapp brought his mother, Karine, who rooted for Félix Auger-Aliassime on Friday night (both hail from Montreal). Ashley, a frequent face in the stands, said she needs lessons—getting her backhand in line is priority one.

All in all, nobody hosts quite like Ralph.
