Further fueling hopes of a collaboration, mononymous musicmakers Tyla and Ciara gravitated toward each other to debrief on the previous night’s MTV Video Music Awards in a makeshift VIP area. Breakthrough girl group Katseye sparked a flurry of excitement—especially when Consani slipped into their formation, declaring herself the unofficial seventh member. The event also brought out a whole host of new Netflix faces, including Megan Stalter—the effervescent lead of Lena Dunham’s Too Much—Wednesday’s Joy Sunday, and Lachlan Watson of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
With their prized Talismans in hand, attendees made their way through interactive stations, pausing for glittery martinis, gold-leaf chocolate bars, candied oranges, and seafood served in pearlescent shells. Each stop around the room brought the collection to life and appealed to the senses in one way or another. Behind a velvet curtain, photographer Hunter Abrams had set up a portrait studio. Elsewhere, people wrote kind messages for strangers or listened to poetry read by Ciara Chantelle. Proving particularly popular, there was a two-hour wait for a fine-line tattoo—one that Tommy Dorfman happily signed up for.
Later in the evening, designer and DJ Heron Preston took over from Rae Sada. For one final treat, FKA Twigs strode onstage to perform hits including “Home With You,” “Eusexua,” and “Cellophane,” accompanied by a harpist. As her pristine voice rang out, you could hear a pin drop as guests watched in awe. The only other sound? The many silver Talisman charms jangling at her wrists.
