Super Bowl-winning coach sees Dan Campbell, Lions straightening it out

The Lions didn’t exactly roar during their visit to Lambeau Field on Sunday in a 27-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 1. And for one former head coach, there are still plenty of questions lingering throughout the team.

Appearing on The Pat McAfee Show Tuesday, former Buccaneers and Cardinals head coach and current Buccaneers senior consultant Bruce Arians shared his thoughts on the Lions and seemed to believe there is some reason to be concerned in the Motor City, and that there is plenty of work to do.

Arians was asked if he agrees or disagrees with the statement that “It’s all good, the Lions are going to be a-ok.”

“I love Dan Campbell, don’t get me wrong. But if you watched them in the preseason, I didn’t see any fire in the preseason. They looked really bad in the preseason,” Arians said. “And I didn’t see any fire in anyone in Green Bay.”

Arians added: “That is not Dan Campbell. Do think he’s going to straighten it out? He got all new coordinators. It’s a whole new ball game up there. I think they got a ways to go.”

Arians does believe the Lions and Campbell will ultimately straighten things out, however he did add that “in that division, they better straighten it out quick.”

Arians also doesn’t believe Green Bay is levels above Detroit. This was just one game. That also led to a quick discussion of the NFL scheduling big divisional games in Week 1, which could maybe lead to more players playing in the preseason, to which McAfee and company agreed would be good for all parties involved.

It isn’t time to panic yet in Detroit, but folks, including Arians, will be keeping a close eye on them in the coming weeks to see if things do in fact start to straighten out.
