Each season, we look to the street-style crowd at New York Fashion Week (and the European shows that follow) to get a first glimpse at the biggest trends of the season. Perhaps even more so than on the runways, the looks worn outside the shows signal what people will actually want to wear for the foreseeable future.
So, what does team Fashionista expect to dominate ‘fit pics throughout the Spring 2026 shows? We’re betting on a continued resurgence of certain Y2K trends, such as skinny neck scarves and nostalgic luxury handbags that were popular in the early aughts. And because it’s September, we’re also expecting a touch of coziness and comfort, most likely via oversized rugby tops and throw-over-anything ponchos. Accessories-wise, toy-like bag charms to nautical boat shoes are likely to be ubiquitous.
Ahead, see all the trends we anticipate having a major street style moment this season .
Labubus & Bag Charms

Like it or lump it, 2025 was the year of the bag charm and chaotic customization, as proven by the takeover of Labubu toys. And they’re not going anywhere just yet: We expect to see plenty fuzzy friends clipped to handbags or belt loops.

Skinny Scarves

Skinny neck scarves were huge during the 2000s and into the 2010s, and they are now steadily re-entering the trend cycle. Whether coordinating with the rest of an outfit or built into a knit, this trend is a playful throwback (even if it’s not going to actually do much for keeping warm).
Polka-Dot Prints

As far as prints go, polka-dots single-handedly led the trend cycle this past year, as seen on a host of recent runway collections. We expect to still see it going strong throughout the Spring 2026 shows.

Rugby and Jersey Shirts

The fashion crowd appears to have gone sporty this year, as rugby-style tops and even sports jerseys have turned into an unexpected, laid-back outfit go-to. Look for knitted or long-sleeve rugby tops with polo necklines to partake in the cozy wave.
2000s-Era ‘It’ Bags

It’s officially tough to go a single block in NYC without spotting a vintage handbag from the 2000s era. The most prominent examples include Balenciaga’s City Bag, Chloe’s Paddington bag and Proenza Schouler’s PS1. We’re even seeing “It” bags from the early 2010s come back around, like the Celine Phantom. We expect to see them all styled for 2025, which of course means adding some bag charms.
Ponchos

Fall is for layering, and as boho-chic continues to be revived, ponchos and capes are reemerging as a popular option. And in a heavy knit, they’re far more functional than the aforementioned skinny scarf when it comes to keeping warm.

Scarf Belts

Square silk scarves were everywhere during the summer of 2025, and that’s a trend we expect to see carry into street style this season. As showgoers look for new ways to style them, we foresee an uptick in scarf belt accents, whether worn folded in half, with one point hanging down, or twisted into a rope-like shape.
Boat Shoes

Boat shoes have proven their timelessness in 2025, with many brands and designers pushing the silhouette in recent months. And it’s not too late to get in on the nautical trend, since this one is also pretty seasonless. (We also rounded up some of our favorite boat shoe styles here — you’re welcome.)

Even jewelry has gotten sporty, and we’re expecting to see tactical corded jewelry everywhere during the Spring 2026 shows.
