Rachel Antonoff and Susan Alexandra Host Their Second Annual "Best in Show" NYFW Event

For the second year in a row, Rachel Antonoff and Susan Alexandra joined forces to bring a little (and by that, I mean a lot) of joy to New York Fashion Week with their collaborative “Best in Show” event — a runway show meets rescue dog adoption.

“We love dogs, and there’s a lot of dogs that need loving homes,” says Susan Korn, designer and founder of Susan Alexandra. “That’s just one of the many privileges of doing this show.”

The duo teamed up once again with Animal Haven, a New York-based nonprofit shelter for abandoned pets, to partner their celebrity models with furry friends in need of loving homes. Dylan O’Brien notably walked a one-year-old named Marble while sporting a red knit by Antonoff and a beaded bag in the shape of a dachshund by Korn.

“We did a lot of dog-inspired pieces, so there’s a lot of dog-shaped bags that happen to work with a lot of the dogs [in the show],” says Korn. “We also did a lot of new leashes and a lot of jewelry, but there’s a lot of dogs on the mind.”

Although Antonoff is just as focused on the hounds (her own pup Lafitte walked the finale with her), most of the patterns on the clothing were of other animals that could be interpreted as canines.

“We have a lot of bunnies this year, but so many dogs are bunny-adjacent, so it works,” she explained.

Other stars on the runway included Edie Falco (matched with an adorable rat terrier), Christina Hendricks (accompanied by Gidget, a miniature poodle mix) and Minnie Mills (with a collie mix named Prada). To learn more about the adoptable dogs, head to animalhaven.org.

“This is going to be annual,” says Antonoff. “The opportunity to get more dogs adopted and bring more awareness to Animal Haven is such a joy.”
