Theophilio's Edvin Thompson Is Feeling 'Comfortable and Confident' — and It Shows

Here’s the thing about Theophilio. It will always pass the vibe check.

Season after season, the label presents high-energy shows, praised for their upbeat, dancefloor-ready music, diverse crowds, nightclub-turned-runway-like settings and — most importantly — bold, dynamic collections.

For Spring 2026, showgoers were welcomed to that much-anticipated, electric experience. But this time around, the energy in the room felt buzzier than ever. Maybe it’s because “Love Island” Season 7 star Olandria Carthen was in the building. Or perhaps it’s because designer Edvin Thompson built his latest collection off his summer Bashment event, an annual party celebrating Caribbean Heritage Month.

“I just saw the rapport from that event, and it ended up just really bursting into my collection,” Thompson tells Fashionista backstage after the show. “I was just like, ‘I need to continue this. Why not just lean into self?’ This season, I felt really comfortable and really confident, to be honest.”

Thompson leaned into his signatures, creating a lineup of sequined swimwear and matching sets, bold-hued mini dresses and striped tracksuits. He pointed out the finale look — a yellow and pink ruffled maxi dress that took nearly four months to make — as one his favorite pieces.

“The Theophilio woman, she’s worldly. She’s a trailblazer. She’s political, but not in a way that is trendy. Even as Black folks, we’re automatically political because of just who we are, and I feel like that is the Theophilio woman. She commands attention, but is not starving for it. She forges her way.”
